Robert Lewandowski Equals Ronaldo: The Ten Highest Scoring Years By The Players In 21st Century



The Bayern Munich Star, Robert Lewandowski set another goal-scoring milestone on Friday. 

With a 4-0 win against Wolfsburg, the Bayern Munich forward scored his side's 4th goal, it was his 43rd goal in the Bundesliga this season.


Lewandowski has surpassed Gerd Muller's tally of 42 from 1972 as the highest score by a striker in the German top division in a calendar year.

The figures on display are stunning, as the Pole's goal over Wolfsburg not only broke a Bayern legend's long-standing record, but it also equaled one of Cristiano Ronaldo's greatest successes.

That goal was Lewandowski's 69th for team and country in 59 games in 2021, putting him in joint second place most goals scored by a player in the twenty-first century (yet another point why he should have claimed the Ballon d'Or).
