Cristiano Ronaldo's 'last' Manchester United jersey has sold at auction for £39,000

The Manchester United shirt that wore Cristiano Ronaldo in his most recent game for the club has sold at auction for thousands of pounds.

An unknown Chinese bidder paid more than £39,000 for the white away shirt wore by Manchester United against Aston Villa earlier this month.

The jersey may be the last one wear by the Portuguese legend for the club.

The 37-year old's relationship with the powers that be at Old Trafford has suffered as a result of a contentious recent interview with Piers Morgan, with United stating that they'd 'taken necessary recent efforts' in reaction to what was stated.

This might indicate that the forward's term at the club is nearing its end, less than eighteen months after his comeback.

'It's certain that Manchester United are ready to advise Cristiano Ronaldo not to go to Carrington after the World Cup,' trade guru Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this morning on Twitter.

As of now, this is the strategy. This is one of the initial steps following the interview; more will be taken in the coming days.

Ronaldo's return to Manchester United has not gone as well as many thought.

Having scored 18 goals last season, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is no longer favoured by new manager Erik Ten Hag.

This was best demonstrated during United's recent win against Tottenham, when Cristiano walked down the tunnel even before the game ended.

If he intended a way back, he would have not given this interview,' Gary Neville recently said to Sky Sports. He believed it would make headlines and mark the end of his Manchester United tenure.

I'm curious what Manchester United is doing because the fact is that they understand they have to cancel Ronaldo's contract or set a precedent where any player may question them in the future.

But the fact is that if you are an employee of a company and say such things, your job must be terminated, and Manchester United must do so within the next few days.
