Lionel Messi Is Welcomed With a "Guard Of Honour" By PSG Teammates Upon His Arrival To Training After World Cup

World Cup 2022 winner Argentine Star Lionel Messi received a guard of honor from his PSG club teammates as he returned to the capital.

The 35-year-old player was instrumental in Argentina's trophy-winning campaign in Qatar this winter, scoring 7 goals, including a brace versus France in the final match.

He also became the only player in the football history to win "World Cup Player of the Tournament" twice.

Argentina's financial regulatory authority is apparently pondering immortalising Messi by placing his image on a 1000-peso note, such is his power on the greatest stage.

PSG, Messi's club, has given him a 10-day rest following his performances with the national team in Qatar.

He resumed to the club's training camps on Wednesday morning in preparation for Friday's Coupe de France match against Chateauroux, in which he is anticipated to play.

According to L'Equipe, the most of Les Parisiens players and staff accorded the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner a "Guard of Honour" on his first day return. However, French striker Kylian Mbappe was not present on that day.

The majority of the Paris Saint-Germain team is thought to have been granted a day off following their humiliating 3-1 loss to Lens on Sunday.

Following a guard of honour, Messi was presented with a gold-plated award by a PSG official to commemorate his World Cup victory, and the Argentine proceeded to celebrate with the trophy.

According to reports, the former Barcelona player wishes to bring the World Cup trophy to the Parc des Princes and has even requested the Ligue 1 winners to deliver it prior to their next home match.

However, Paris Saint-Germain are hesitant to accept his request for fear of fan outrage.
