Kylian Mbappe Writes a Formal Letter to PSG Concerning His Future, Expressing His Strong Feelings

Kylian Mbappe's extension of contract option at Paris Saint-Germain will not be exercised, according to rumours, meaning he might depart during the summer transfer window.

According to L'Equipe, the 24-year-old forward star, who has been connected with a transfer away from Parc des Princes in previous years, delivered an official letter to Paris Saint-Germain on Monday afternoon.

In this letter, he notified the Ligue 1 champions that he will not, under any scenario, exercise the option in the agreement for a further year until 2025.

PSG were thought to be "positive" about contract discussions, but this newest development caught the club off guard because they were making substantial efforts to prolong his stay.

This new development might mean the end of Mbappe's six-year stint at PSG. As things stand, the France international will be a free agent after his agreement expires in next June.

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, provided the following information on Monday evening.

Kylian Mbappé has told PSG of his choice: he will NOT trigger the option to renew his present agreement until 2025, which means that deal will expire next June 2024 — as L'Équipé called it.

[PSG's position: There is NO intention to lose Kylian for free. Sign a new contract immediately or he'll be sold].

The revelation comes only a day after Real Madrid president Florentino Perez intimated that Mbappe may join the club when the summer transfer market opens in 2024.

Perez spoke about Kylian Mbappe last year after he turned down a transfer to Los Blancos. [We did not execute any pre-contract or agreement with Kylian Mbappe because it's not regular," he said to El Chiringuito.

Perez said, [I believe Kylian Mbappe's mother encouraged him to join Real Madrid because she knows it has always been Kylian's dream]. I'm confident she intended Mbappe to join us, but circumstances change and we must accept that. I still adore Kylian.]
