Jurgen Klopp Reacts to Kylian Mbappe's Shocking Liverpool Loan Transfer Claims

Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, gave his response to claims that the Reds want to seek Kylian Mbappe on loan from PSG.

The Daily Mirror alleged on Saturday that the Reds were planning a surprise offer for Mbappe, that would see the Frenchman join the club for the 2023/24 season.

It is believed that Mbappe's earlier expression of love for the club, as well as the fact that his mom, who is also his agent, favours Liverpool, were both interpreted as indicators that a deal with the football superstar might be reached.

The 24-year-old's days at PSG look to be numbered, with the French club believing he has secretly negotiated terms with Real Madrid to move to them in 2024.

The plan is to be to sell the player as soon as possible - and there has been plenty of interest.

At this point, the serious offer came from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. Despite PSG accepting their world-record price of £259 million, ESPN claims that Mbappe had little interest in discussing conditions and swiftly rejected the deal.

That reopened the door to a prospective move to the Premier League, however the cost of the player on a permanent deal would quite probably be much beyond the Reds' budget.

Klopp has already spoken out about the potential of bringing Mbappe to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp On Kylian Mbappe

The Reds are presently on a pre-season trip in Singapore, with Klopp speaking to the media on Monday ahead of a game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

When questioned about the Mbappe connection, the German said, [We laugh about it.] [I believe he's a great player, but the financial situation doesn't work for us. I don't want to ruin the story right now, however there's nothing to it as long as I know.]

However, he did provide Liverpool supporters with a glimmer of hope: [It's probable that somebody else from the squad is working on something and is interested in surprising me.]

Although a deal for Mbappe does not appear to be imminent, the Reds are moving closer to another summer addition in midfield.

They are planning a second proposal for 19-year-old Southampton sensation Romeo Lavia, according to The Telegraph, after an original offer was rejected by the Championship club.
