Penalty Shootout Hero: Former Manchester United Star Mame Biram Diouf Is A Penalty Shootout Hero After Two Goalkeepers Sent Off



Mame Biram Diouf, a former Manchester United player, was the star in Hatayspor's penalty kick triumph over Eyupspor, moving in goal and converting from the spot.

According to the Sun, the Senegalese attacker got himself at the contrary end of the ground as both the 1st & 2nd choice goal stoppers were issued straight red cards as the last man.

Diouf moved forward to take his position amoung the two sticks for the spot-kicks with the result tied 1-1 after additional time.

The former Red Devils forward calmly slotted in the first penalty before stepping in goal to keep his team's advantage in the shootout.

Diouf did not stop a penalty, however he was still on the side that wins, as Eyupspor missed their first and last penalty kicks, allowing Hatayspor to win 6-5 from the point.


Despite scoring 6 goals in 14 games for Hatayspor in all matches so far this season, the 33-year-old has made a major impact in Turkey.

He joined the club on a free agent from Stoke City during August 2020, after spending 6 years in the Potteries and recorded 25 goals in 157 games.

After a loan tenure with Blackburn Rovers and 2.5 years at Old Trafford, Diouf made his third appearance in England with Stoke City.

The striker followed in the footsteps of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by moving from Molde to Manchester united, but he didn't have nearly the same impression.

He only made 9 games in a United shirt, scoring once in a 3-0 win against Burnley in January 2010.

1st season have also seen Diouf win his only main trophy, as Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United defeated Aston Villa in the League Cup final.

In addition to playing for ASC Jaraaf in his home Senegal, he played 2.5 years in the Bundesliga with Hannover.

However Diouf's attention will now turn to a Turkish Super Lig match against Istanbul BaÅŸakÅŸehir at home on Sunday.
