Man Utd 1-0 Norwich: Cristiano Ronaldo Penalty Keeps Ralf Rangnick's Spotless Premier League Star

Cristiano Ronaldo won and scored a goal as Manchester United defeated Norwich 1-0, extending Ralf Rangnick's spotless record as interim coach in the Premier League.

It wasn't exactly the dazzling first half that Manchester Utd had delivered in Rangnick's initial game versus Crystal Palace past week, with Alex Telles' free kick getting tipped onto the crossbar.

Norwich were dealt an immediate blow when leader Grant Hanley was hauled out with a shoulder injury after collapsing heavy during a battle with Ronaldo. He was subsequently seen watching from the sidelines with his arm in a sling.

Dean Smith's team, on the other hand, showed no signs of wear and tear as they commanded the second half, with Teemu Pukki, Przemyslaw Placheta, and Josh Sargent all remained close.

If Norwich supporters were dissatisfied with Ronaldo's part in Hanley's injury, he did little to like himself to fans even more when he scored a penalty following Max Aarons had tackled him to the ground.

The verdict infuriated the Visitors, but Cristiano scored from the penalty spot (75) to preserve Rangnick's second consecutive Premier League success and clean sheet.

Manchester Utd had David de Gea to applaud for both of those, as he made late stops from Ozan Kabak to claim Gary Neville's player of the match prize. The goalstopper also recorded his 200th professional clean sheet.

United are currently level on points with 4th placed West Ham, who'll travel to Burnley on Sunday, and stand in 5th position on goals scored. It was an unfortunate outcome for Norwich, who stay at the bottom of the Premier League chart with 10 points.

The game ended in a frenzy at Carrow Road, with Kabak twice getting close to equalising. The first came shortly after Man Utd's score, when he nodded goalwards, however De Gea stopped him with an outstretched arm.

Ronaldo also wasted a golden opportunity to add a second late on, however he skied Marcus Rashford's cleared pass over the crossbar. Luckily, a 2nd goal was not required, as Utd got all 3 points back to Manchester.
