Lewandowski's opportunistic finishing got him the Diego Maradona Honor and TikTok Viewers' Star of the Year 2021 Globe Soccer Honors in UAE on Monday.

As per Il Posticipo, Capello was questioned by Sky Sports who should get the Globe Soccer Honors' Men's Player award of the Year.

He said, [I wish Lewandowski wins].

[I'm a big fan of Lionel Messi, but I wouldn't have supported for him. I believe the Pole is deserving of the award].

He further added that, [I believe he is indeed the finest striker in the world, even though Mbappe, Neymar, and Erling Haaland will be his next rivals].

The night's biggest award went to PSG star Kylian Mbappe, who beat off Capello's favorite choice.

Over the previous weeks, Lewandowski has been connected with both Real Madrid and Manchester City, with Bayern considering a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland next season.

Lewandowski has scored 30 goals in 25 games for Poland, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

And Lewandowski was beaten to the 2021 Ballon d'Or by PSG legend Lionel Messi, who won the award at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris previous month.

Capello thinks the ex Dortmund striker might quit Bayern, and he believes United are lacking a "real center-forward," with Cristiano Ronaldo filling that role.

"Lewa may quit Bayern," the 75-year-old Italian added. I understand there are reports, and I would like to see him succeed anywhere, but in the Premier League, there is a squad that lacks a real center-forward, and Manchester United is now using Cristiano Ronaldo in that place."

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in the summer and has netted 13 goals in 19 games for the Red Devils.

The Five-time ballon D'Or winner Portuguese Star has been chosen striking position under both previous Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and temporary manager Ralf Rangnick.
